I love the flowers and I don’t think I have seen them before. They remind me of those oriental petal bowls, except these are tipped with a touch or magenta. I think you and I have flowers in our souls!-Karen.
Ha! If I don’t have flowers in my soul, I am trying to make up for it. I have seedlings in every window awaiting the warm sunlight. I have them on a wagon, so that I can roll have them follow the sun as it turns through my windows. I hope to plant them in the earth in a few days. We didn’t have dogwoods in Vermont, which is very far north. I’ll never forget my first time seeing one in person. As I recall, I was a bit like a cartoon, with my eyes popping out of my head! ~amy
Beautiful photos Amy. I live beneath a canopy of 12 giant dogwoods. They make my world. Spring brings the thousands of blossoms and then green of the leaves. Petals cover the forest bed as the flowers continue to another stage. The trees shade me throughout the heat of summer. Then in the fall when the seeds have ripened they shoot out and they patter onto the roof sounding just like rain. The spent leaves fall onto the forest floor. Not a problem for me because my yard is just a part of the forest. And I nestle into the composting dogwood debris awaiting winter. I am one with my dogwood friends.
Have you ever photographed your dogwoods in their glory? I would love to see that. It should be soon or now, right? Sounds so peaceful & heavenly. I envy you, mine promise to be beautiful, then seem to give up. I loved your comment. Thank you, Gretchen. ~amy
I have been taking photos of them. I have equipment down so I can’t publish until I get everything up and running. But I will. The grasses are growing wildly my cottage now and all is green. Unlike the south all will brown within a month.
I cannot do west of the Mississippi…to monotone for me. I guess b/c I’m blind in one eye–my depth perception was gone when I saw brown/tan. My twin lives in Berkeley & everything looked brown & dusty. I LOVE green & rolling hills I grew up in them, therefore I can judge distances. I do hope to see your dogwoods! ~amy
That is the same very feeling I had when I put them in the vase. Peace. I will print this one very big to hang in my bedroom, i think. You are welcome to take it too. I’ll bet it makes a great screen saver, Eva. Thank you! ~amy
The flowers are beautiful. Yes, I understand that flowers, pets, kids, whatever, will make a liar out of you whenever they can. Even if you cannot preserve your blooms with a photograph, use the camera in your head to remember them – as much as you can. My memory is fading, and I don’t think I’m that old!
Thank you, Susan. I love when spring brings out my favorite blossoms. It is an event I look forward to. I remember the rest of the year, that i love them, but cannot picture the blossoms in my head. So I take the photographs so I can peek while i wait for the changing season to bring them back. ~amy
