the story about how the spider caught a rainbow

the story about how the spider caught a rainbow

not really a story. i made her (spider) mad. I took the water spritzer for my plants…& i washed her web for her. doesn’t it look grand? the droplets caught light & shattered it into a rainbow. i’m so lucky that she, my halloween spider decorator, decided to build her web above my front door. as she does every night.

my son, when he was about three, was very afraid of all the webs that appeared on our front deck every October. so being a great mom, i lied to him & told him that the spiders decorated our home for Halloween, so we should be grateful for their hard work & not be afraid. it worked. he would warn his sisters not to ruin the decorations, like they would go out the front door in the first place.

lies do come back to haunt (pun intended) me. when my son was nine, i heard him tell a friend about the spiders decorating for Halloween. i had to tell him the truth. he was so surprised & decided that it should be true.

before you think this witch doesn’t own a broom~ to knock down our webs, we do knock them down…when we know company is coming. but our spiders have a very strong work ethic. i wish they knew how to clean houses.

are your spiders the juicy kind? ours look like they are full of ewww… & are about to explode. speaking of exploding, i think my daughters would like to have the deck blown up when they invade us every Oct.
