African Daisies – Latin name – osteospermum — and they come in a range of colors to suit most needs and tastes.

  3. We know them as veldt daisies and my trusty gardener husband, who kindly checked the photo out for me) says they’re knows as Leptosternum (at least, I think that’s how they’re spelled!)

You’re both right… Osteospermum is just the scientific name for the African Daisy. Gorgeous blooms!

  5. I see there two sorts, those in front are osteospermums, they have relatively small centre and long petals; that another one further on the left has a much bigger central round and shorter petals like in common daisies.

Oh, maybe Osteospermums because they returned in the spring. I thought they were a perennial because they returned. But this year they failed. I will look online for a nursery that can send me them. Thank you so much for your help! ~amy

Great news, John…with all the help from other gardeners, i got my answer. I found them–Osteopermum seeds on Amazon. I can plant them as soon as they get to my door. They are “tender” perennials. Which means the weather may kill them if it becomes too cold in Alabama during the winter. Thank you for your sweet comment. :)~amy
