Nala…usually a princess, spotlessly clean & graceful, got a rawhide today. She dug herself a hole in the dirt & indulged or maybe, overindulged, by the look of her. Geez, her tongue is hanging out.

Awww. Beautiful blue eyes! Huskys are lovely dogs. My whippet made friends with a husky boy last week while we were out for a walk and it was so nice to see them play. Managed to make a video of it and even though the husky is 3 times bigger than my Charlie he was so gentle.

Thank you very much, Amy š I didnt know that either, and Charlie wouldnt go nowhere near any water at some point, but now he seems to love it. š It was so nice watching them playing together. Thank you, he`s got his own facebook page, he is a little star š

Charlie should be a star. I was surprised to see both in the water, it was like a dare on their part. I’m glad he is a star! He should be. ~amy

Nala is adorable, … she looks a bit like a cat that’s had too much catnip, and is now drained of all energy… but oh so content and blissed-out too. š

These pics make me think of our pooch. We have a local beach with black sand – our dog Dan gets so excited he runs about eating mouthfuls of the stuff. Gotta laugh š

Black Sand? Are you in Hawaii? How does Dan’s stomach handle eating sand? That is so funny, you should take pictures of it! I know we would all love to see it! ~amy

Hey Amy .. yes black sand on our west coast of New Zealand. Have no idea how he handles the stuff – I’ll dig up some pics or take some more for you š

Oh, please find some photos, Julie! Please let me know when you do. I’m afraid i don’t get a chance to dig deep into blogs very often, i just use my reader. Why is your sand black? I know Hawaii’s is because of volcanos, is it the same for you? ~amy

Just a word of warning … Some dogs will bury their rawhides, and while underground they grow mold which can make the dog REALLY sick when they dig it up again. Also, some dogs chew on rawhide until it’s all sloppy and soft, then they swallow it and it gets stuck in the gut, requiring surgery. I used to run a dog rescue, and we ran into that problem one year. We pretty much banned rawhides after that, except when indoors and under supervision.

Thank you for sharing this information. I put the rawhide outside, with their dinner & water. I leave them outside for about an hour then bring everything back in. Neither dog seems interested in chewing it. But I will wash the dirt off & dry them in the sun & give it when they are beside me. Thank you so much. ~amy
