Petals from the Past 16034 Co. Rd. 29, Jemison, Alabama 35085

These gardens reminded me of my mother’s perennial beds in Montpelier, Vermont. The gardens she would dig in the dirt, swearing under her breath at the deer that had eaten her bulbs. She called the deer, Bulb Breath…

The style of gardens surrounding the building were like an old fashioned English Cottage Garden. SOMEDAY, my perennials will look like this. Alabama has gotten into the upper 80s already. Too hot to call spring, spring. But, like magic, the weather turned cold again. A gift on the day my friend, Ginger took me to this magical place. The sky, the wind & the smell was so familiar, I felt that I had some how been brought back in time & place…i expected to see my mother digging among all those stunning, perfect flower beds, swearing at the damn deer.

I love the ‘cottage garden’ plantings – all the colours massed together and contrasting so beautifully – lovely šŸ™‚

Oh, Peggy. It was my mother’s Vermont garden. I was home. It was the best day ever. I can’t wait to go back! ~amy

That should have been its name, for that is what it was.

Very much so. They are gloomy, rainy & dull…i’m so grateful that the seasons do change here though. Seeing spring colors come up from the dullness is just as beautiful here as it was in Vermont. Thanks, John! ~amy
