The black, behind the hammock, is the creek that borders our backyard. Behind my hammock are my four raised beds. When I swing here, I hear the water moving over the rocks. I feel the breeze, gentle as a kiss, moving over me. & if Hobbes, my cat, is outside, he jumps onto the hammock. Hobbes snuggles up close & it is the BEST. DAY. EVER.

I grew up with a hammock in our summer house garden. Gone now, but suddenly I feel an urge to get a new one. π
Lovely pictures you have in your blog!

I LOVE that he jumps up there with me. I’ve got to get a family member to take a picture of us together. Everyone needs a ‘happy place’. Good for the soul, even if you can’t be in it, you have someplace to think about during stressful times. I’ll bet your happy place is your illustration table. “) ~amy

Hobbes is definitely named from the cartoon series. I love Bill Watterson’s comics. We have all the books & it was mandatory that all my children read each & everyone book. Best life lessons are learning among those pages. I even have on as my coffee table book! I tucked them into the pockets of my backseat in the car. NO electronics while in the car…Too much info? Sorry, Robert. ~amy

When it comes to Calvin and Hobbes, there is no such thing as too much info. π There are even tribute videos on Youtube, and I’ve probably watched them all. Seome are pretty good, some not so good.

Tribute videos? I’ll have to look some up. I know there are a great many fans of the series out there. I read them when they were in the newspaper waaay back when I was about 16 or so. Love & still love that dry wit & the way Watterson comes around to a life lesson in just three boxes.A modern Aesop’s fable type moral. Gifted man. Thanks, Robert for telling me about the videos. ~amy

Growing up in Vermont, I had a neighbor that had a hammock between two trees, I was so jealous. I also had a high school boyfriend who had a hammock, too. We spent hours swinging & talking. It just took 25 years to get my own. π
