The above pics of the husky are so cute. My youngest daughter had a Siberian Husky named Mahle and got her as a pup and Mahle lived for about 13 yrs until she got very sick with a tumor and had to be put to sleep, a very sad day when we have to say ‘goodbye’ to our beloved pets. 😦 Thanks for recently visiting my blog.

Thank you, Joyce. It is a very sad day to say goodbye to our pets. My heart is still bruised from losing my 10 year old Siberian Husky last February. Everyone was home, but me the day he died. It was trash day & Blue was always terrified of trash days. He ran down the hall in his usual panic & the kids said he let out a cry & was gone where he was. My husband called me on my cellphone during my garden club meeting & I kept ignoring the call, but on the fourth attempt, I finally excused myself. He said, “you need to come home right now” I thought it was one of my children & demanded the reason on the phone. It felt like I was punched in the gut. I came back into the meeting, everyone stopped to look at my red, tear stained face…Ugh. Pets should come with a warning label that states your heart will be broken one day. Thank you for telling me about your daughter’s dog. I hope she got anther to help fill the void left behind. ~amy

Thank you for sharing. It is true; we suffer broken hearts too from the loss of our pets. Yes, my daughter presently has two other pets, an older dog named ‘Buddy’ (Mahle’s old sidekick 🙂 ) and a big cat named Bobcat. I posted photos and poems about them recently on my blog for the NaPoWriMo poetry event. We have Maggie now (an Australian Cattle dog mix), but a few years ago we had to put to sleep our beloved yellow lab dog, Titus. He was our second lab. Our first we had for 13 yrs, a black lab, Blackjack and Titus lived for 10 yrs. before he too got very sick with a tumor and was put to sleep so we have also had many a sad adventure with beloved pets. They are/were like family members.

After I suffered the loss of my first true love cat, I had to rethink my pets as angels on earth…each here for a certain time to get us through certain things. That thought brought me comfort. To know that when my Nala goes, another angel will come to help me though that period of time on this journey. I would never go without the love, even knowing I will have to say goodbye one day. Better to have loved & lost then to never have loved at all holds true for our animals. It is taking the good with the bad. I’m not living this life without any fur following me around. ~amy

That is an excellent way to put it, Amy. 🙂 I think our pets even make us humans a more well rounded person in a lot of ways.

Yes, we do. We now have a wonderful little female, Maggie who is a mix of Australian cattle dog, Shar-pei and Chow. I posted a photo and story about her I did recently.

Yes, if she doesn’t drop out before then, she will be rewarded with extra ‘cookies,’ and the chance to go chase more squirrels and rabbits. 🙂

I love to see her when she is curled up. She is usually flat on the floor, but it was cold that day. I wish I fit into the little space on her belly. She doesn’t let me cuddle long, but even thirty seconds is heaven. Thank you, Gretchen. ~amy

We went smaller but fierce in the gentle way all dogs can be. English Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Had them for 18 yrs but I left the dogs when I left the husband. So, none since Aug 2011. I got to experience all that came with dogs for 34 yrs. We were given a German Shepard as a wedding present and it continued with a few more breeds. I miss them but my ex would’ve missed them more.

So why not become a foster to your favorite breed, if you can? I couldn’t be without any fur. When I left my first husband, I took my cat with me. Just a thought. Something warm to hold your heart can be a life saver. ~amy

My man is allergic to both. If he weren’t I would definitely have a cat. The last cat I had died in the mouth of a coyote 20 years ago. So, I have just come to the realization that it may never happen again.

Oh, i’m so sorry, Deb! I lost my favorite cat in the mouth of a neighboring dog. A chocolate lab & a yellow lab snapped his neck. Broke my heart. ~amy
