This is my very first rose, it is very small, but is stunning in color. I planted the roses this spring. The “vase” is about 3″ tall, it was a sample of Vermont Maple Syrup.
There are few things in this world that are a worthy second act – in delicacy and aroma – to Vermont maple syrup. I believe you have just given birth, from the earthy loins of your garden, to one such treasure. As a Canadian gal (and a consummate autodidact myself), I tell you, maple syrup (from whatever side of the border) always puts me in a poetic mood 🙂
I was just letting everyone understand that it was a first & a baby, that I was very proud to have seen one this year. I planted it in May. And Birmingham Alabama has turned into swamp land, so I expected very little in the way of blossoms. I did lost a lot of perennials this summer. But the ones that survived will have a strong root system I hope. ~amy
