I’m very very much into “buy local” and supporting local small businesses wherever possible.
We also try and frequent small businesses when we travel, not only does it give you insight into the “real” local economy but it also often gives you brilliant and unusual souvenirs to bring home.
After all, zillions of people can have an exactly the same mass-made something from IKEA but who has a handmade local made artisan pot, dish, jewellery or such from either close to home or bought home from travels? … and which best expresses and keeps alive creativity?
Spending maybe a tiny bit more and having less generic “stuff” but rather something stunning and inspirational is a practice that I can only wish more people would learn.
Wonderful blog! I’m following with pleasure 🙂

Ah, we are of like minds then. I’m so happy to hear when others follow the same logic. To support our local business & our artists should be the norm. But i also know what its like to try & save a dollar. I just hope that more people begin to realize that if we did support our neighbors, then locally, we would thrive. I’ve bought quite a bit of art from local artists when i travel. It means so much more then when i hang it up in my own home. Knowing the creator of the art & i both benefit. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment & compliment. ~amy
