If you just look. Impressionism, abstract…realism. Dollars seem to flow toward abstract. It takes quite a mind to be able to create an abstract painting. An artist would have to have the ability to let go. I am a realist, not very much money in that. My paintings look too much like a photograph to instill much interest in many people. I have a hard time letting go & just putting color on a canvas. I have one abstract canvas on my wall. A friend of my son came to visit, he pointed to the painting & told his mother has the same one. Really? Â I am too tense to let go, unless you’re talking about the state of my closet. I think I will stick to doing what makes me happy.

The spot of rust is a powerful burst with these neutrals – wonderful eye for this little find.

Thank you, Mary. I like walking around little villages in Birmingham. The cool part of the high end villages, they still have a backside & its there where all the good stuff is. 🙂 ~amy

The abstract was there before but got discovered by a realist who got to impress us with doing what makes her happy! To me that sounds like the circle is complete. To see or not to see, that is the question. Great shot!

The first art was done by cavemen…hands & deer. Then there were gods painted pottery, then the churches had frescos painted their religious people, then came portraits of the wealthy & royal. The landscape artists (I may have skips a gazillion) would able to carry canvas, oils & easels with them. Because oil doesn’t dry, these paintings had to be of things they did very quickly, to complete, later, in their studio. But people started loving these incomplete paintings, with just hints of things they could recognize…I think that people like impressionism because some people may believe that if they picked up a brush, they too could do something like the abstracts that appear so simple. What do think? You are a realist with tremendous flare for dazzle. I think the realists have put down the brushes & picked up cameras, instead of painting the amazing things we see, did/do so b/c realism takes too much time without much $$$.
What do you think Eva? 🙂 That is my theory & bank account. Which is why I LOVE your work. ~amy

Great theory Amy! As Picasso said” anything you can imagine, is real” and most of my time I live in my imagination!

Gosh, I just reread my comment…so many mistakes! I always have a child interrupting my thoughts. Forgive all errors, but you understood what I was trying to convey. Living in your imagination makes for an interesting life! Thanks, Eva. ~amy

Thank you so much, Timothy! I loved finding rust, so many colors to see in it…as long as the rust isn’t on anything I own! ~amy

Thank you, Mark. Rust may be an enemy to the pipe owner, but a treasure to find for a photographer! ~amy
