In most species it is the female that is brightly colored to attract a mate but in some species the male is the glamorous one as in this red male as the female is a mere grayish brown.
Wow, what a wonderfully coloured bird! The sad thing about Cyprus is the small bird population – they have hunting seasons here and thousands of birds are shot. It’s the real downside of life here and I do so miss the brightly coloured birds of Australia.
