#365 days since I last kissed Blue

If you have a pet that holds your heart. Photograph them, save lost whiskers, save dog tags, save old colors. When they are gone, all these scraps become art when placed into a shadow box.
If you have a pet that holds your heart tightly. Photograph them, save lost whiskers, save dog tags, save old collars. When they are gone, all these scraps become art when placed into a shadow box. Blue used to sit in front of my daughter’s window & when he saw my car coming down the hill, he would get up & lay at the top of the stairs.  He followed me everywhere I went. If I got on the floor, he would lay down almost on top of me.  He was a good 2nd father to our children. He was my heart. He left it a bit cracked.

Oh, its so tough, Gail. I still cry when I think of him. After he died, I went through my photo library & found four photographs of him with each one of my children. I had bought five frames that held four images. I did the same for me & my husband. I did it so that I see him in every room I walk in to. Just like I did when he walked this earth beside me. ~amy

Oh Amy, Blue was such a beautiful dog. Like you, I feel that every day with our animal friends is so precious. And however many days we have it is never enough. I still feel as close to the animals I have lost, however many years pass by. I can see the bond that you form with your animals and it is a joy to see. I wish I had been in touch and shared seeing photos when he was with you, but thank you so much for letting all your friends and followers see him now. I am so sorry that he had to leave- Karen

Dear karen, thank you so much. That was a tough day for me. I know so many who have lost so much more then a dear animal. I feel as though I shouldn’t shout it from the roof tops how much I miss my dog. But he helped me raise my children. My husband travels for his job. The nights he was away, Blue would help me tuck my children in their beds. When I was sad & needed a good cry, all I had to do was fall to my knees & he would be there. I would cry tears into his fur & when I was finished, he would clean me up. That kind of dog was a one of a kind. I have another Husky & we are very close, but I didn’t raise her from a pup, she was a rescue. I will treasure every minute I have with her. She follows me too & will let me cry into her fur. Dogs really make my world a much better place. Thank you for your kindness. ~amy

Oh Amy, what a very special dog Blue was. A year is a very short time ago and I would not ever expect you to fully recover from the loss of such a special relationship. Like you, I see no difference between the bond between people or people and animals. Each loss I have experienced with the death of my cats has been just the same. In some ways, eventually they live on with us, in our hearts and memories, but I have to say that the place that Blue filled was very unique.
I know that like you, I invest in my animals and what they give back is so deep and meaningful. Some people do not make that connection and treat their animals differently. I feel sorry for them that they do not know what their animal friends have to give.
I am so touched by the special relationship you had and that you and Blue loved each other so much. That will always be one of the most important relationships in your life.
I am going through a horrible and very confusing divorce and have had to leave my beloved business. My three cats are my life and represent the same security for me as Blue did for you. Suddenly, I live alone and guess what? All my three cats are sick. The vet is here constantly. I took the third cat in as a stray two years ago. His name is Otto and he has had heart failure due to hyperthyroidism. Recently he has had major surgery to help him. Thanks to your friendship and your example of sharing I am going to write about him in a post today. Like you, my world is made possible by sharing it with my animals.-Karen.

I had been wondering what happened to your Blue… What a magnificent dog! I love his blue eyes against the white fur. I’m sorry to hear that he has passed away, but I’m sure he is still with you in spirit and in your heart. Warm hugs.

Thank you, Dean. I hope you take lots of pictures of your wife with her beagle. Sadly they are with us for such a short time, that it is shocking when our pets leave us. I have pictures of my dog all over my house, so at least I can see him everyday, still. ~amy
