I love the way that your work is usually so saturated with colour, But this photo is special in a different way, in that it has a real calm stillness about it. A very sensitive shot which shows your love of animals.

Thank you so much, Karen. I seem to want bursts of color right now. I had 2 major hip surgeries & was confined to my bed most of the summer & fall. My bedroom had no color at all-I seem to be searching color out but… I love black & white photography, it is bare bones & soul. I wait for the image to tell me what it will be. Hobbes had to be b&w. Oh Amy, I too was in bed for a similar time. I had surgery on my feet, but the surgeon made a serious error and broke my foot by accident. I did not walk either till Sept. Being creative is a blessing and a curse and I do not think we cope well with confinement.It is interesting what you say about black and white photos- they strip bear the subject, I guess, because the colour does not distract. Enjoy soaking up that colour! Karen

I’m so sorry about the broken foot. My original surgeon broke my pelvis & lied about it. He told me that I had a dislocated pubic bone after the surgery. He told me a physical therapist can fix it. I walked around for five years before my pain doctor (this past spring) asked me, “What are you talking about! There is no such thing as a dislocated pubic bone!” i showed him the X-ray & he freaked out & sent me to a trauma orthopedic surgeon @ Vanderbilt to fix me. That surgeon discovered not only did the original surgeon broke my pelvis, he left behind tissue & the surrounding bone had become infected & he had to chop out all the bone until he reached healthy…shocking! But now that i’m better, I am LOVING the color i see everywhere i see. I hope you feel good, Karen. Thank you for sharing your story. ~amy

I am so upset to read of your experience Amy. I don’t know what it is about these Surgeons, they seem, well, so arrogant, as if they could never be wrong. I had so much pain in my foot but each time I tried to tell my surgeon about it he just said ‘stop whinging, you have had surgery’. It took him 3 months to agree to x ray my foot then he had to admit he was responsible and he admitted breaking it during an operation to correct other problems with my feet. Because it was broken for so long it had set badly so I had to have a plate inserted, etc. My foot will never be the same. Your story is terrible. What a wicked man! And you must have had so much pain. Like you, I feel so lucky now to be able to enjoy photography and life in general. Karen. I am so glad you kept your doctor under pressure. I think a lot of doctors believe all patients are out looking for pain medicine. Because of the god complex they have, it blinds them to seeking out the truth of it. I wish I had demanded more information from the surgeon. He has destroyed our saving account, collage funds for the kids-but mostly has made my whole family suffer so much. I looked up his name at the hospital (its 2 hours away) & he is no longer there. I need to find more research about him. I will tell the world my story so that others will do as you did & demand results & admit fault. I’m glad you put a copyright on your photography! ~amy
