Directions: I drew the dove & photocopied it onto card stock. I looked up every symbol for Peace in the world & drew them on a chalkboard. (At an art store, I purchased boxes of white only oil pastel) This project was done at our Jewish Temple in Birmingham. I had every class come to the art room for a few Sunday School days. Each child decorated the doves with the prewritten symbols from the board onto their doves. After drawing the children cut them out. (the younger children~i cut them out later) The children (k-6) were then given watercolor paint by SARGENT. One color was green & the other was a metallic gold, I asked the kids to mix the colors & paint over their white pastel symbols for peace. At the end of classes, I had the my teacher’s aids paint the other side, when they dried. We punched a hole at the top & used fishing line & used small wooden dowels & tied one dove at each end. Then my very tall heroic Eli hung them on the frames holding the ceiling tiles. They stayed up for the year. I LOVED it. The kids Loved it. It was a very hard project for so many. But I think it would be wonderful fun for a smaller class. Peace. ~amy
