my friend delivered these from her own garden. She had always delivered flowers in vases, but everyone was wishing to return the vases. She no delivers flowers in a can, covered in fabric & with a rubber band or a ribbon, so there is now reason to return anything…except the can to be recycled. I love this idea. Another great idea is to go to the dollar tree & buy a few plain vases for just such a purpose. My friend wanted to make clear that is a gift.

I love dahlias, they remind me of my Dad, who adored them. We used to go to a summer fayre every year where people competed with the most varied and amazing dahlia blooms. Happy days.

When Helen first brought them to me, I thought they were not real, then realized that wouldn’t be possible. She said she had purple ones growing as well. This fall, I am going on the hunt for bulbs of my own. Your father had wonderful taste. ~amy
