I miss you, my gentle friend. I hope you can make it through two weeks of over 100 degrees.

I miss you, my gentle friend. I hope you can make it through two week of over 100 degrees.

My Hydrangea looks like it won’t make it, I don’t have a hose long enough to reach him & we can only water after 8pm, which is when I am not thinking about dying plants.

  1. I have a suggestion for your gentle friend. Find some plastic milk jugs with the caps. Clean them well Then poke a few to maybe 6 holes near the neck of the jug but not too close to the neck and cap. A nail works perfect. Fill with water and then insert into ground neck side down so your holes are under the dirt near the roots of the bush. It will gradually drip water into the ground, you only have to fill them every day or so when its convenient for you. You can water like this even before 8!

Hope it helps. OH OH!! And you can paint the jugs too!

I may try the milk jug idea, but it would be hard because out dirt is clay. He was spoild today & looked it

      1. Ahhh clay soil. Been there. Done that. If you could get the jugs in they may in time help amend the soil. Adding raked leaves, grass clippings etc.. in the fall will also help to amend it. Nothing to do but just lay the clippings and such there and letting mother nature take over.

That pretty much what we do already. Our land has improved. I married a guy who want a perfect lawn, so he know were to put the clippings.

so use dirty bath water, water from washing dishes or simply place in watering can and water those most in need. Then buy a rain barrel and never be told what to do with your OWN water lol
