a. Saab's SAAB story

rear ended by GMC Yucon on Wednesday. This SAAB is a bloody tank. The SUV hit the bumper then the steel cage & pushed me (because the roads were wet from rain) into a black NEW BMW, he did swerve, but I did clip him. The BMW pulled over like the WONDERFUL man who hit me (he was so sad & sorry & when we parted company, we gave each other a much needed bear hug-to comfort one another) then the BMW took off like a rocket!…a mystery. Neither of us were hurt.

If any of you know about the SAAB– it is strong & fast. The company went bankrupt & I was devastated to hear this because what else am I supposed to drive? My husband informed me that the company reopened & they are building SAABs again.

But none for America, yet.

Hi Alessandro, I was alone & the man behind me was only angry with himself. I was sore for a few days?! Couldn’t believe it, but I guess because I’m still trying to get strong from my surgeries. Thanks for commenting. ~amy

Thank you, Neil. I have good memories of another SAAB in my teenage years….I loved his car! I have no idea how long my car will take to fix. I just hope the repairs aren’t more then the car is worth. It is a 2002 with only 70,000 miles on it. I just broke the thing in. ~amy

  3. Glad to hear you’re okay. We had a similar incident with a Volvo when we lived in the UK 2002-4. A young kid tried to squeeze past on a roundabout and banged into the driver side at the back. His car was a mess but he drove off, probably not insured, but there wasn’t a mark on the Volvo, much to our relief! Hope they can fix your car okay, Saab’s had a very good name back in Australia.

I grew up riding around in my parents volvo’s. Wonderful, safe cars. Unless you pack three kids in the back & drive them 9 hours to Connecticut. That was always dangerous for my parents, wondering who would get out of the back seat alive…:) ~amy

They can be. My poor 18 year old daughter can’t drive the my husband’s company car or the rental. She is stuck being driven by her parents again. Thanks Gretchen. ~amy

I’m glad you’re ok. I had a hand-me-down SAAB in 1987, and it protected me when I drove home from college with the flu (and fell asleep at the wheel). They were amazing cars. You have to have driven one to fully appreciate them.

I love SAABs. I grew up in Vermont- snow 5 months out of the year. Everyone drove either a volvo, saab, subaru or a jeep. I fell in love with saabs when I saw the first convertible 900 way back in the early 1990. LOVE. I hope the repairs are less then the cars value…otherwise I’ll have to hunt down another SAAB station wagon! I am happy to hear that your saab kept you safe! ~amy
