Perhaps putting up a window box and hurricane shutters? The rust frames the windows beautifully, as does the creeping something or other, it’s not an ivy I know of.

That would be what in Italy we refer to as “American Vine” or “Virgin Vine”, scientific name: Parthenocissus quinquefolia.
