I remember my father playing him in our volvo, very loud & singing along with Mr. Marley. My twin brother & I (age 10-12) were into the cheesy top 20 pop stuff & we would look at one another & roll our eyes about our father having no taste whatsoever in music. We did learn all the words to every song he wrote, so when we went to Reggae Festivals in Vermont as much older teenages/early 20’s & other’s would play Mr. Marley’s songs, we would sing along, greatly impressing our friends. & silently giving thanks & asking for forgiveness, to our father, at our naïvety at what real music, passion, politics, pot, & poetry set to song really was & what it can do.

Sorry, we had two volvos, so they were not ‘cars’ they were red volvo or black volvo. The image of us came back so sharply, I was telling you what I remembered. I was NOT a Saab then, I was Amy Begun.
