It’s raining today. We live on the wrong side of the tracks in the best neighborhood in Alabama. We were able to buy a house here by busting our butts flipping houses. Today I drove up the elementary school to pick up the younger two & then to the high school to get my big kid. I park where I always do. I sat & watched people, pulling past other cars, butting in front of them. These cars that were driven by selfish motives, “Well, my kid is more important then your kid” At one point someone pulled sideways in an SUV the size of a house, blocking me in. Then a Mercedes blocked my only way out. Needless to say, I panic when I’m trapped, & when I’m trapped I become a bit like the Hulk only little & pink, with a Yankee attitude & dripping with swear words. I had to talk myself down from creating the most embarrassing scene that my daughter would ever see. And hate me forever. As the SUV moved, I decided that my daughter had just as much worth & she is important to me. So I, in my SAAB station wagon, cut in front of the money, I mean the Porsche & Hannah barely got wet. Not that it matters much if she gets wet, most kids were running or walking in the rain with no umbrella, (apparently its cooler not to carry an umbrella, because being prepared for the forecasted thunder storms means you’re a dork.) I should be past all this behavior & attitude, but I tell you. Alabama is known for being the bible belt. I don’t think the bible says the rich are more important. Being Jewish, I’m repeating charity redeemeth in hopes that I won’t do this petty behavior again. Unlikely though, when almost everyone was showing me how rotten my neighborhood can be. I’ve been told that if I didn’t attend a certain Baptist church, that they attended, I would go to Hell. I asked that person, what about other Baptists from other areas? The answer was they are going to Hell too. Amazing. It sounds like nothing Jesus would have said. I asked that person, you work with 8 or so people, how can you stand to have us around, when you believe we are all doomed to Hell? I suppose that attitude would make that person feel special, more important & better then everyone else. If that person is going to heaven along with her congregation & the rest of the world is going to Hell. I would much rather burn with people who are not so easily led. Charity redeemeth, Charity redeemeth, charity Redeemeth. I will do Jesus work & help my fellow man & woman. I will show them all the respect they deserve. Today made me want to move back to Vermont.
So lesson learned, if it rains, tell Hannah I will be 20 minutes late, preventing me seeing such snobs bully their way through the lines, that way I will not turn into the little pink Hulk by witnessing such crappy behavior #@!*^.

Amy, I have the same issue with folks who have $ and therefore think that they are better than others. The problem with this attitude is that $ does not make anyone better than anyone else; what matters most is personal character and genuineness. I could go on and on and on with this subject, but I think that I have made my point with fewer words than normal.
May you be doing better my friend.
