The State of our Union

Even our Union is broken. Congressman & woman fight with one another, who do they work for? Us, not the money, vote them out, the ones who refuse to compromise, vote them out of office, no matter their party. I am married to my opposite, but we’ve learned to compromise with each other. Because we are grown ups. Because we love each other & what we are, a family. We (it is ‘we’ isn’t it? People & the land are ‘we’), as a country, are giving up & pulling out. I drive down our roads & there is nothing to see but FOR SALE signs. This is NOT who we are. We have families, we have homes with friends & dogs & cats & birds & fish… These are the things that define who we are, do you really want to sell WHO we are? But who am I to say this? Nobody, really. I’m just one vote. But I’m paying attention & these ribbons say it all.
I bought Blue from a breeder

He & his brother were left, he was about 3 months old. His brother was wild & had Sophie’s Jacket in his mouth & Sophie was just laughing. In the car behind me was my 3 month old baby boy. The little girl being held by a solid white husky, I looked at the other dog, hiding in the corner. I asked the owner, why he was hiding. She said,”That one is very shy” I thought shy is good because of my 2 year old, 3month old & 7 year old. My husband had left for duty first in Dubai, he said buy that Husky you always wanted, the dog will make it easier to stay alone. “Hi Blue” my brother Michal had come to help. I picked up Blue & put him in the crate in the back seat handed over a $400 dol.lar check in her hand. “Hi Blue”
I though it would like to go on walks with us in the double stroller. It was like dragging a boulder. He wanted to go home. Here is a very small patio with a door to a small back yard. He got his exercise pacing in front of the door terrified. So, Blue is an inside dog. Hates walks, likes going outside without a leash, we have no fence, but he doesn’t leave the property much. This morning he decided he could not come when called. So Nala who is on a leash, go inside. It’s 5 a.m. I woke up at 3:30 again so it was dark when we went out.I knew that as soon as Blue noticed we had gone in, he would run up the back deck doors as get his only exercise, pacing & scared. So I let in my 100 pound almost 9 year old Beastie, I touch his back. I don’t remember doing that. But I had left evidence behind, Blue has Cobalt Blue Hue paint was on his back. I was painting & for some reason I get paint in the strangest places & it would drive my husband CRAZY about paint everywhere. Now, it just rolls off his back. I left the blue paint on Blues back, to show the kids, who will think its too funny.
The photograph was given to me by April she the big cheese of Alabama Siberian Husky. I was friends with the Alabama Siberian Husky on Facebook, so I could look at cute dogs. Then I see on FB this face of an angel. It said that she & her brother had a week left before she would be put to death. So I wrote to April & she said I had to fill out this form. This was serious business. She came to the house to see if we would be good fosters for Nala ( the kids named her, they had seen, ‘Lion king’ the day before) Nala came in very sore from being fixed. The rescue fixes & checks for heart worms & other things, they get all there shots, then we got her & a gift bag full of dog toys. & thats when I learned, I have just met the woman with the biggest heart in the world. I made this for her, from her photo. Two weeks with Nala, April started telling me that I need to put pictures of her & stories. So she can find her forever home. I kept thinking, this is her forever home. I told April the first week she was hurting, so we couldn’t figure out her personality. The next week she felt better & we realized her last name was Saab. We called April & paid her the low price of 300 dollars. My children have a box for charity & they wanted the money to go to the “Human Society” But they gave every bit of their money to April. She sat in our chair with her baby & maybe 50 dollars in quarters. This was during our interview, the kids wanted Nala,so badly. We have always given our charity money to our Temple Tots preschool. This year its gonna go to the lady with the big heart that gave us Nala. PLEASE, PLEASE if you want a special breed, PLEASE look on line to see if your desired breed as a rescue program. Or rescue a dog who is on death row. I will never buy from a breeder, I will rescue/foster first.
Genetically Altered Roses..

Oops, I don’t think it was supposed to look like this because the bulbs are just pink all the way around. So I bought this out cast to see what he does, that is if I can stay alive!
This is our Lion, his name is Levon…he comes with a great story

We went shopping at Home Goods. Which is not privately owned, but I must confess their prices keep us in our home. We found a cement cat, he was beautiful & I thought he would be a great monument for Walter. The cat that left a huge hole in my heart. But his price was $50 dollars, so we searched everywhere. David found one with a chipped ear, marked down to 20. The injury was too much for me to want to buy him. We found a metal cat that was too small for a monument, but he was only 9.99. So we bought him as a door stop for the front door. We passed this lion a thousand times, he was 3 times bigger then the cat that I really wanted. I looked at the price tag for the lion. He was $25 dollars. Thats it. So we bought him not for Walter, I still want a cat for him. We bought the lion for our blueberries & our strawberries. in the fall we are going to smother him in yogurt to age him 20 years. What a find!
