Some of downtown Birmingham’s buildings shine, even though time should have dulled them. It’s because the details stand out. Someone cared enough to put a face in stone on a border that stands six stories high, just because they could.
Now to have a building built…quick & cheap is more important then making a lasting impression. It is the person who asked for its construction, in that manner, who proves that he takes no pride in his work, only his bank account.
This detailed entryway is made of wood. I found it in Waterbury, Vermont. When I see something like this, because they stand apart from everyday things, I think of the craftsmen who worked with his hands & heart to build it. I could be wrong, believing it to be old, this could have been made a few years ago. Still, it was made by a craftsmen. I am very grateful for it.
