Jewish Prayer Shawls

Jewish Prayer Shawls

or Tallis. No one can wear one until they are women & men, fully grown. At 13 (Ok H. off you go.. get a job). After watching my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah, holding my breath the whole time, making sure I have an internal map with the quickest way to the bathroom, just in case I got sick.  She was amazing, beautiful, sang in Hebrew like a Cantor (a shy one)
My father got up on the Bima, Friday night to present her with a Tallis, but gave her his own. I did know he was going to do that, My mom told me & said, “shhh” When Dad put his Tallis across my daughter’s shoulders was one of the most beautiful moments of my life.
(I painted one like this one in Temple’s Prayer book…& another for my friend, Rabbi Scott Hausman-Wiess.)

  2. What a lovely and signifigant story you shared. Is it approprate to say congratulaios? I’m sorry I don’t mean to be crude or disrespectful.

Its a beautiful image you painted with your words here, just as beautiful as an image in your daughter and her grandfather.
