lit from within

i think these flowers appear to be lit from the inside, more than any other flower, is because they rest upon a body of water. which reflects sunlight. so they are, in fact, lit from underneath as well as above. Birmingham Botanical Gardens

I am changing how we celebrate Hanukkah.

Pretty audacious, right? well, i am tired of tiptoeing around what is right & wrong with how to celebrate Hanukkah. i grew up in Vermont with two parents, my father is Jewish & my mother converted. We grew up celebrating both Christmas & Hanukkah. we got a Christmas tree. perhaps a day or two before Christmas….

the mirror on my desk

i always thought it was old fashioned to put a mirror, laid flat, on top of furniture. But man, does it make my flowers twice as stunning. The first image is one of my favorite spring annuals, the African daisy. African daisies come in lots of colors & sizes, but the purple are my favorite….

sometimes the best parking spot…

has little to do with distance. i parked my black car next to a blue building with a colorful mural. When i got out of the car to photograph the building, i saw a better view in the reflections on my car.
