Everyone who has a young child knows this bear

Everyone who has a young child know this bear

This mural was done by me. I had one of his books, & I like the way he was sitting, but in the book he was facing the other way, So one hand with a pencil the other hand holding the book, trying to make my brain swap everything backwards. Which is harder then it sounds. But I discovered that if I practice for a few minutes I can write mirror image like Leonardo did. Anyway, this is the art I want to do because it makes me & kids happy. Don’t you want to snuggle with that bear?

Piles of windows…what potential!

The mantels, I think there were two, those could be taken to an boring apartment, painted, put a basket (thin) with dried flowers or cool sticks or a neat candle holder that holds several tea lights or the next size up. Place a picture/painting above it, a vase with fresh or dried flowers, candles & BOOM. A complete change to dull, for 200 bucks or so! You’re welcome. My husband said it would be cool, but not in our house.

One of the best commissions I ever had was to create the new Alice in wonderland Characters

One of the most fun jobs or commissions I had was the new Alice in wonderland

The biggest challenge was I had to make one & a stencil the teens to be able to trace & make their own. Another challenge was in the new movie the Cheshire cat’s strips sort of glowed. Have you ever tried Martha’s glitter? This is not children’s glitter, it is glitter for the art gods. Here he is almost finished. He still stays in the art room at Temple. The only finished photo him finished is with Hobbes laying on him. I had to draw Alice, the Mad Hatter, The red Queen. The Cheshire cat beat them all as far as loving what I’m doing.

The money tree tipped over

The money tree tipped over

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago…People bought & sold art. I can remember before the Great Recession, I made thousands selling my art. After the Great Recession, I made $250, for the whole year. I still had people calling me for donations. I did a few, but then I realized it was me who was giving the donations. Yes, I have the paint already, the brushes, the paper. I did not have matt board or framework to hold my art tight. During all of our poor, sucky, Great Recessioned lives (except for the ones that still had money, why didn’t you buy some bloody art) I painted this money tree. It no longer grows money. A few penny colored tinfoil is it’s foliage. The brown bark fell off, revealing the stocks & bonds section from newspapers. This was my world for a while, but you can only have bad luck so long as its intermixed with good. This year, I may paint again, I don’t know where I’m going to put it. But I’m not giving it away, I’d rather hang it in the garage. Thank God for Photography, if you have an eye for it, I take pictures of families, or their pets. People believe those are investments. They are investments into a past, when they were young and beautiful. (Or “OMG, when did I get so Fat???”) So I will be a photographer, but someday when the arts are worth investing in, I’d rather be a painter. Painting gives you ways to change the world (rather then document it) in anyway you please, allows us to become LIKE God in very small way, he was the greatest creator of all time.
Someone should write a song about picking pennies off a paper tree-its all a mystery to me…why we judge those who have more money then me. I suppose I don’t want my life to look that shitty tree.
