alabama Scottish thistle…

planted in my garden in honor of my maternal grandmother & her mother. my great grandmother immigrated to Vermont from Scotland, by herself, when she was 18 years old. I love knowing her courage & hope that is in me.

I love thistles – their purple colour, their proud, tough and determined form, their extremes of soft and spiky textures. Thistles are synonymous with Scotland aren’t they … a lovely family story, Amy ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you, Peggy. I was so excited to find a local nursery that had a few in stock. I love the contradictions of this tough little flower. The stem & leaves are so sharp, but when it flowers…the blossoms remind me of muppets. ~amy

How’d you get the alien life-form to pose behind the thistle? Very nicely eerie.

I had to click on the link to see what you saw. I do see the green “eyes” of the alien. I haven’t any idea how he got there! Very creepy indeed. Thanks for the laugh, Paul! ~amy
