I found this chalkboard in an empty lot between buildings on the streets of downtown Mobile, unfortunately there was not a stick of chalk to be found.

It is, however, a perfect lesson in light & how a camera sees so differently then our own eyes do. The board was black, in person, but i photographed it in the late afternoon…shadow. When i teach photography to others, I so enjoy showing students that the absence of sunlight…shadow, is seen by the camera in blue/cyan. If you notice the grass in this image, it is yellowish, because i added yellow/red in an attempt to turn the blackboard, black. I couldn’t add too much yellow b/c the whole image turned a funky yellow before i could get the board back from blue to black. I colored the board ONLY with yellow, but that of course, changed the white chalk yellow. So I left it like this, to be a bit of a color correction lesson to those who have never taken a class.
