it takes a (DIY) village to house the birds

Instead of doing the watercolor commission or editing photo shoots…you know, the stuff that pays me, i decided i needed to just PLAY. It is summer after all. My daughter, Sophie, is the only child of mine who joined in the fun.

The windows on the Mother Nature church of peace were painted with nail polish, which really made them stand out.

Directions: go to Michael’s Arts & Craft store & pick out a birdhouse, they are unfinished & cost about 10 bucks. Then go over to the scrapbook paper & chose your theme. Prime & then paint the birdhouse, then use Mod Podge to adhere your paper’s designs/theme. When your done, cover with a few coats of Mod Podge…when that is dry, apply Varnish.  They won’t last too long, but the point is to reach your inner child & have fun.

i did.

I just got three blank birdhouses from a friend last night. She bought them at Michael’s and asked me to paint them. I didn’t even think of adding scrapbook fun to it as well. Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. The real estate price for bird houses just increased by 1000%!!! These are joyful, fun, lovely ornaments to decorate your trees in addition to providing really high end fancy living courters for the birdies, not to mention all the fun you got out of it! Great stuff!!! 🙂

You know, Eva…this really brought the kid out of me. I made them just for the joy of it. AND they look so great in the yard, they look as cool as the flowers. I do hope some birds move in. Right now, I think everyone has nests around the yard b/c i put seed out for them still. Thank you for your awesome compliment!!! ~amy
