Black & white photography came first. Then color was captured on slide film, print film, color paper..with a huge “WOW” factor. The vibrancy of color photographs dazzles the eye. For me, black & white dazzles the soul. I feel the picture. People look thoughtful, hopeful or that they are making wishes. black & white reveals how we live, shows us whether we’ve laughed often or not enough. Black & white came first, but in most homes, images hung on walls for art’s sake are black and white. Does everyone have that emotional reaction? I think they do, instead of being distracted by color, which is our normal view. We can have everything, but the subject, become irrelevant & just focus our eyes on the people or person that bared their souls without even knowing it.
