Credit where it is due…167,199 views in a year + 2 months

Stained glass art project…Sophie spent spring break creating a stunning art project.  She was given a set of sharpies & gave herself a challenge that she could finish a project of her own making within the 10 days of spring break.  When she completed the project she brought it upstairs to show it to me.  As it sailed into the kitchen, I saw that light could pass through it.  I told her that it looks like stained glass & I snapped a picture of her work as she held it against the glass doors.  I uploaded it to Pinterest & as many places I could sent it.  It was Pinterest that grabbed the attention of so many.

If you look at the front page of the blog you will see about 167, 199 views.  Sophie’s art has had, last I looked 89,130 views on her one piece of art.  She has over 80 likes from bloggers.  400ish views from Facebook via Parenthood 101 link. Her total views, 89,130, are about 10,000 higher then mine & my mothers. Our views have been 78, 069.

As a mom, I want my children to exceed my hopes, expectations and enjoy doing so.  Sophie feels guilty that she has many more hits then I do.  She wants her mother to be good at something.  She doesn’t brag, she doesn’t tell children in my art class. So sweet.  She made that art when she was ten.  She hasn’t done anything at home other then her Hobbit poster, which she didn’t enjoy at all.  But she is proud that it is framed & hanging in the art studio.

She has done another cool painting, took her two hours.  I asked the art kids to come up with a theme, Sophie chose ‘Hope’ I like to think that she chose that for me getting better hips.  She is far too young to choose that as a topic.  Sophie is celebrating her 12 birthday & I wanted to share her art. The famous stained glass art project- I told her she can put it in her bedroom window, but she chose to put it on the wall, I took this picture with my iPhone as I did the new painting.   As always with my children I cover them in my name, so no one will want their picture. but me.

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 110,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 6 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

This art project was decoupage using

Smiling for what, Cheshire Cat?

How do you make the Cheshire cat glow?
Martha Stewart’s amazing glitter.
I painted him. first I drew him on matt
board, cut him out, then painted
him in acrylic & sprinkled 3 different colors
into the wet paint. This was for a Teen art
class for a special party. This one was an
example. He belongs to me now & watches me
with his wicked grin sitting atop a wire.
